SGA Student Chapter Erlangen

Our young student chapter was founded in January 2023 to bring students and PhD candidates with an interest in economic geology together. As part of the parent organization the “Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits” (SGA) we pursue the goal to bring value to the students at the Geocenter Northern Bavaria by offering events activities with a focus on mineral resources. For this we started a lecture series on resources and mining where we invite experts from industry, academia and governmental agencies to bring their knowledge to our university. Often we round off these talks by a sociable BBQ or dinner allowing students to network. Furthermore, we plan field trips with a focus on economic geology and have successfully completed our inaugural field trip at the graphite underground mine Kropfmühl in the Bavarian Forest this year.
